Initially planning to photograph birds, 48-year-old photographer Prakash Badal stumbled upon a heartwarming scene of a dog and monkey together. The baby monkey appeared to be no more than 10 days old when locals poisoned the adult monkeys in an attempt to protect their crops from destruction. Despite the tragic loss of its family, the baby monkey survived and was adopted by a dog. While conflicts between dogs and monkeys are common, a mother’s instinct to care for a helpless infant of any species is stronger. This touching display of interspecies love and compassion took place in Chakki Mor, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India.
This type of relationship serves as a lesson to humans who have become selfish and kill each other just because they belong to a different caste or religion. Photographer Prakash Badal, aged 48, stated that although conflicts sometimes arise between monkeys and dogs, a mother’s relationship is more important. He expressed that when a mother sees a small baby left alone with no one to care for it, maternal instinct takes over, prompting her to adopt the little one even if it belongs to a different species.
